We will be running this with 60 x Y12 students (aged 16 – 17) studying Law and Psychology. The students will investigate a crime scene, collect evidence, conduct forensic tests, interview the suspects and put together a case for the prosecution for the mock trial, which will take place in the morning on Friday 2nd July. We hope to have representatives from the Police and the CPS on hand to offer advice to the teams. The students will learn more about the criminal justice system and develop their problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills. We need business volunteers with a background in the criminal justice system to offer advice to the students on Thursday 1st July. We also need business volunteers to play the role of the victim and suspects. The suspects will be questioned by police and the student detectives. They must be prepared to co-operate with the investigation which will require them to provide samples such as hair, fingerprints, handwriting and mug shots.
